Ibrahima Diouf and Alain Tchibozo Join Serge Ekué’s BOAD!

The West African Development Bank is recruiting Alain Tchibozo as Chief Economist, created for the occasion. While the banker Ibrahima Diouf becomes special advisor to President Serge Ekué.

Two prime recruits. BOAD (West African Development Bank) on February 11 confirmed two appointments, known for a few weeks, which enter into the new governance of President Serge Ekué.

Which intends to better promote the bank internationally. Thus, the president has taken the initiative to create the post of chief economist, which falls to Alain Tchibozo, a well-known figure in European finance. Similarly, Ibrahima Diouf becomes special advisor to the president of BOAD.

In this position, he will shed his opinions, resulting from his rich experience of some thirty years in the African and international banking sector, on the strategic files of the Institution.

Specialist in audit, governance and bank financing, Ibrahima Diouf began his career as Head of Operations and then Account Manager at BICIS – Dakar, in 1989, before joining CBAO Dakar as Director of the Large Business Unit.

He then served as Vice-President for Citigroup Dakar, Brussels and London, where he joined the group’s headquarters as Senior Auditor and Head of Mission.

At Barclays Bank Africa, from 2007 to 2011, he led, among other things, control and operational risks for emerging markets, both the Emirates and Egypt, sub-Saharan Africa, the Indian Ocean and Russia …

Before joining the cabinet of the President of BOAD, Ibrahima Diouf held, since September 2016, the position of Managing Director of EBI SA, an international subsidiary of ETI (Ecobank Transnational Incorporated) for the France, United Kingdom, China and Emirates.

In reaction to his appointment, Ibrahima Diouf said he was “very happy to return to Africa and especially to join the BOAD family”. Within this institution, “our only objective is to participate in the economic development of our region which, in fine, will be measured against the social and environmental impact of our actions on the living conditions of the populations”.

For his part, President Serge Ekué explained his choice: “Ibrahima Diouf is a senior African executive who has a good knowledge of the banking sector in Africa and at the international level. I am convinced that with his recognized expertise, together we will be able to give another dimension to the influence of BOAD”.

BOAD therefore welcomes Alain Tchibozo as Chief Economist. For this task, the senior financial analyst will be responsible for working to improve the Bank’s access to international capital markets, at a time when the Institution is embarking on a process of strengthening its own funds. to support the economic and social development of the WAEMU countries.

Alain Tchibozo has nearly thirty years of experience as an analyst with European banks and investment banks. He got his start at Crédit Agricole in 1987 in Paris, where he held, among other responsibilities, the position of Head of the team of financial analysts responsible for monitoring European banks.

His career led him successively to Paris and London within the teams of Exane BNP Paribas, Dresdner, ING Wholesale banking, Mediobanca Securities.

Alain Tchibozo joins BOAD after three years in the active management of an investment portfolio made up of shares, debt instruments and hybrid securities within the British hedge fund Inverewe Capital.

Alain Tchibozo is a graduate of HEC and the French Society of Financial Analysts, Sfaf. Most recently, he collaborated on the book on banking strategies in the digital age Transformer la Banque, published by Dunod.

In reaction to his appointment, Alain Tchibozo indicated his intention to “strengthen the relationship between international investors and BOAD”. In his view, “this is now a priority, which will allow our Institution to optimize its sources of refinancing, a key factor in the success of the development of our sub-region”.

Serge Ekué commented on his choice: “Alain Tchibozo is a very valuable skill that will bring a lot to BOAD. “ His appointment is “in line with the commitments we have made to the senior authorities of the Union”. It is “part of our vision of strengthening the international credibility of BOAD in line with strengthening the capital of the Institution in order to increase its operational performance”, concluded the President of BOAD.
